FAQ

‘But how will you select young people who would benefit from The Rollerskate Scholarship?’

  1. We will work with Young People’s (YP) organisations, youth workers, social prescribers, social workers, family support workers in schools and charities to work on referrals. Examples are charities working with young refugees and YP seeking asylum, young carers organisations and local foodbanks. If you work for an organisation and would like to connect with us email us on info@theskatescholarship.com

  2. Identify YP ourselves through our work at LS-Ten skatepark and our free skate sessions at Cross Flatts Park (in collaboration with active Leeds, Leeds Girls Can, GET SET LEEDS LOCAL and LS-TEN).

  3. Work with YP themselves to curate an application system that works for vulnerable YP. Something that is accessible and not bureaucratic. We want to retain a few spaces for self-referrals, whether this happens via a letter, a drawing, a photo, a voice note, we want this system to be accessible to YP.
